I didn't realize I hadn't posted anything on here in over a month. Life has been INSANE to say the least.
We survived Christmas and the boys had an amazing time. Poor little chunky monkey got so overwhelmed Christmas morning that he spent a lot of the time in Mike's lap. He just kept hanging onto Mike's pajama pants for dear life.
Speaking of Mr. Chunky Monkey: Since we already have one child on the autism spectrum, we were really concerned when Aden still wasn't speaking after he turned 2. He still says 'dadadadada' for Mike and he FINALLY said 'mama' while he was in the rocking chair one night. I was so excited because I actually caught it on my cell phone! Now if I could only figure out how to get it transferred to my computer. {sigh}
Anyway, we had him evaluated through our state's early intervention services. I knew he would qualify for speech therapy but I wasn't prepared for the developmental delays we discovered or how many sensory integrations problems he was having. We have therapies scheduled for him 2 days a week.
As if that weren't enough (LOL) Trevor is still doing Taekwondo 3 nights a week. We will probably be throwing in another class once a week, or at least every other week, because he's thinking about participating in competitions now.
We also recently received our 2nd (or 3rd. All these appointments are starting to run together....) opinion that Ethan definitely has Asperger's. At the recomendation of early intervention services, we decided to file for social security for him. We had to take him to a psychologist contracted by the state to evaluate him.
So, that probably or at least hopefully explains my lack of posts on here. By the end of the week, I'm so exhausted that the fibromonster sends me to bed for at least one day of each weekend.
I hope the new year is being kind to you so far. Despite all of this, we really have been blessed this year. Aden has great therapists, Ethan is still functioning pretty well for the most part, and Trevor is still LOVING Taekwondo. Mike's job is going well and we're grateful for a job in this economy. :)
Gotta run. I'm going to enjoy my quiet house for a while.
