TOS Review: BrillKids Little Reader System

For quite some time now, it is well known how important early education is to young learners. Not only is the education itself important, but also instilling the LOVE of learning. Let's face it, you can never start too early! Infants are born with a natural curiosity to try to figure out the world around them and here is another way to help them navigate.

I was recently asked to do a review for BrillKids' Little Reader program. This program is available for purchase online (click on the title of the post) for as little as $149.00 for the basic program. It is also recommended for ages 3 months and up.

Since it was geared toward much younger kiddos, I had a ball doing this with Aden. :) Although he will be three in just a couple of weeks, he only says a handful of words and we are currently working on sign language. However, his sight and hearing are great so I was anxious to see what he thought it. He really enjoyed it! The lessons are already planned and organized for you and it is very user friendly. Also, you can tell this vendor has done it's homework for the little ones. It is very colorful and kept Aden's attention for several minutes at a time, it had just the right amount of repetition to reinforce the lesson but not so long he quit watching it. I also liked the fact that during the repetition parts, they used great pictures to go along with the words but each time that word was shown, a different variation of the picture was used. That's HUGE when you're dealing with a kid on the spectrum. It shows them, for instance, that a koala bear isn't always facing the right or in a tree or eating eucalyptus, etc. etc.

Again, even though Aden doesn't have a large vocabulary, in addition to the lessons I was able to also show him the sign language for a lot of the words so that was very helpful to us.

I also think the price for the basic program is very reasonable. I know a lot of homeschool moms worry about teaching that first student how to read and this would give them an excellent head start! I would definitely recommend it to other moms and I'm looking forward to hearing what you think too. Please check out the links in this post and leave a comment.

*I was provided a free copy of this program for the purpose of a review on this blog. I was in no way compensated by the vendor.
